Getting Over Child Abuse And Neglect

I am speaking out to expose the ignorance, denial and lack of national concern about keeping child abusers, most of whom are family members or acquaintances, away from children. I have lived every aspect of child abuse my entire life. I was isolated and mentally, emotionally, physically, and sexually abused throughout my entire childhood as well as suffered severe neglect. Most of the time whenever I tried to talk to people about my abuse, I usually got the same two responses. They were either: “That happened a long time ago. Get over it.” Or, “Why didn’t you tell someone?”

America’s Survivors – America’s Shame

The issues affecting tens of millions of adult survivors of child abuse and neglect are, for the most part, ignored and not addressed by the American public, the government or the media. It is a national shame and a disgrace. First, we struggle on our own to survive as children both physically and psychologically at the hands of ruthless, depraved and/or neglectful parents/caretakers. Our development is interrupted and damaged. Then, as adults, we attempt to establish and lives our lives – unconsciously aware of the full impact of our trauma.
